When a life depends on instrumentation, it's crucial to test that it functions correctly before going into a hazardous environment. A Bump test exposes the gas detector to the gases that may be encountered and tests that alarms activate.
Do you Bump/Response test your monitor before use?
If not, how do you know it will keep you safe?
-The sensors in a Gas Monitor can experience environmental contamination/poinoning and stop working.
-Many sensors work using a chemical reaction, which over time consumes the components and exhausts the sensor.
-Oxygen sensors deplete even when not turned on due to our atmosphere containing approx. 21% of Oxygen.
-Most personal gas monitor manufacturers recommend that the monitor is bump/response tested daily prior to use.
– Third party calibrations are recommended at regular intervals and Homershams can help there with our IANZ Accredited Gas Calibration Service.
The empty gas bottle can be returned to Homershams for recycling.
